In its endeavour to help in competency development of associates from member companies, ITsAP in association with Broadridge Financial Solutions organized a one day Business Skills Development Program at Broadridge Fianncial Solutions on 23rd January 2010. Brig Harikumar, Executive Director, ITsAP welcomed the 30 participants from more than 15 member companies and hoped the program will help create better understanding of financial aspects of business for all stake holders.
The program based on the book “What the CEO Wants You to Know”, by Ram Charan focused on increasing an associate’s knowledge about finance relating to how a business operates and how they can contribute to the overall business results by making better financial decisions.
Mr. Samir Sabharwal, CFO, Broadridge Financial Solutions, the faculty for the program made an interactive presentation on “Building Business Acumen” and an understanding of the five basic building blocks of a business (Cash, Margin, Velocity, Growth, and Client) and how they interact with each other to create value for a business. He was of the opinion that understanding key financial terminology allows associates to improve their ability to communicate their Business/ Organization’s results more effectively and understand their organizations Money making model. His presentation included “Ram Charan’s” video on Business and was followed by a Case Study with a Q&A session.
Mr Samir Sabharwal also shared literature, which would help the participants to familiarise with most commonly used vocabulary of Finance and aid in understanding Financial statements (Balance Sheet, Cash Flow,..).
