The Republic Ride 2010

The Republic Ride 2010 on 26th January 2010 @ Novotel, HICC

 

After successful completion of Freedom Ride 2009 on 15^th Aug, 2009, The Atlanta Foundation was back with yet another amazing event in the city; “The Republic Ride 2010 on 26^th Jan 2010”. The event was adopted by NASSCOM and ITsAP as one of their annual CSR events.

 

The objective was to encourage cycling and raise funds for a social cause. Through out the route, rest stations (at every 10KM) and SAG wagons were arranged for a hassle free ride.

 

On the Republic Day at 6:15AM the event started with Flag-Off of 100KM ride, followed by Flag hoisting by Retd. Wing Commander Ramani at 6:50AM. Ms. Amala, Founder of Blue Cross Flagged-Off the 50KM ride. We also had 10KM ride for Friends and Family. Riders from various IT Companies participated in all the above categories.

 

The riders were delighted with the arrangements and the support they experienced through out the ride. Through the ride the riders could spread awareness about health benefits associated with cycling, pollution control and ride and raising funds for a cause.

 

The first rider to complete the 100 KM ride came in unbelievable 3:15 min, and thanked The Atlanta Foundation for the well managed Event.

 

The event also saw the Visits from prominent dignitary & LokSatta Founder, Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan, Mr. Malli Masthan Babu, an IIMC graduate, First Indian to achieve the summit of 7 highest mountains in 7 continents in 7 months & Mr. Srikanth a blind student studying at MIT, who all delivered their words of thought & inspiration.
