IT and ITES Industry Expresses Concern over the recent developments in the State (Press Release)

Need to maintain law & order and avoid disruptions to Public life and Businesses to assure continued investments in the State

Hyderabad, 14th December 2009 – Mr. Narsimha Rao, President, HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Exporters Association) expressed concern over the recent developments in the state and its impact on the IT & ITES industry.

Speaking for the industry, he said, for close to two decades successive Governments at the State level have provided continued support to the IT & ITES industry thus providing a friendly and congenial atmosphere for growth & investments. This has made the state a preferred destination for IT/ITES companies from India and abroad and the industry has grown at much higher growth rates than rest of the country in the last 2 to 3 years. The recent developments in the state over the last 2 weeks have had minor impact on the services rendered by IT & ITES industries located in the State with most companies working on their Business Continuity plans with support from administration.

However, there have been concerns raised by some of the stakeholders like the Clients / Employees / Investors / Top Management in some of the companies around assured daily operations. There have been isolated incidents of IT/ITES companies being targeted in both Hyderabad and Vizag and operations disrupted. Such incidents dent the confidence of our Employees, Customers and investors and have the potential to severely impact the brand of the State as a destination for IT and impact our growth prospects. In this scenario continued uncertainties around possible disruptions to Business operations and Public life will weaken our brand further. Today, with so many Global destinations for Companies in the IT/ITES industry for new Businesses, the City and State can ill afford any dent to its image of a peaceful and business friendly place. The industry provides services to Global Customers on a 24x7 basis from centers in the State and we need support from all the Government authorities in the State to restore confidence and normalcy and assure a disruption free and safe environment for everyone.
